DJ Break

DJ Break is an American DJ, music producer, and remixer residing in Las Vegas. His dj sets combine the best of hip hop, house, EDM, pop, & classics, as well as original productions and exclusive remixes. Rocking the turntables live with on point scratching and mixing, DJ Break always takes it to the next level.

A Rhode Island native, DJ Break started spinning in 1992 at the age of 14. As a pioneer in multi-tracked mixtapes, Break was blending and producing complex productions incorporating hundreds of records on a single, 90 minute cassette tape. As the popularity of his mixtapes grew, his fan base expanded outside the Ocean State, and he was recognized and nominated for “Best Skills” in Justo’s Mixtape Awards in New York. Continuing to release mixtapes yearly, by 2001 they were in demand worldwide.

In 2002, Break moved to Hollywood and by chance encounter met platinum producer “XL” from hip hop mogul Master P’s No Limit Records. Break soon began studio sessions with XL, scratching on several records for X, Master P, lil’ Romeo, 504 Boyz and other artists on the New No Limit imprint. DJ Break’s first television appearance was performing on BET’s 106 & Park with Master P, Romeo and the 504 Boyz.

Break also contributed scratches on songs that were used in feature films “Malibu’s Most Wanted”, and “You Got Served”, as well as the theme song for the animated television series “Static Shock”.

In 2004, DJ Break joined multi-platinum Grammy award winning artist Brandy on her Afrodisiac tour as her official DJ. Performances included TV appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Ellen, The Today Show, Ryan Seacrest, the Bachelor, Craig Kilbourne as well as CDUK and Top Of The Pops in London. In 2008 Break toured with Brandy to promote her album “Human”, which also included performances with Ray-J.

In 2009, Break produced a track featured in the opening episode of the Jackson’s reality show on A&E Network, “The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty”.  In addition, during 2009 and 2010, Break founded the record label DJ Break Records, distributed globally by mentor XL’s label XLP, in association with InGrooves/ Fontana/ Universal Music Group.

In 2011, Break performed scratches on two songs for Interscope Records’ group Mindless Behavior, including the song “Girls Talkin’ Bout” which became #1 on BET’s Top Ten Live. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top R&B.

While maintaining multiple residencies in Rhode Island, in 2012 DJ Break released originally produced songs and remixes flooding the Internet and gaining support from other DJs and music fans alike.

In 2013, Break released the mixtape album Audible Arrangements, which sampled over 350 songs seamlessly mixed, combined with sharp turntablism, garnering thousands of downloads on-line.

2014 brought numerous remix releases continually charting on top rated record pools. Break begins a residency at Pearl’s Liquor Bar on the legendary Sunset Strip, Hollywood, CA.

In 2015 Break continues to dj throughout the LA area and consistently releases remixes. Performing scratches on several songs for the new Mindless Behavior album “#OfficialMBMusic”, in it’s 2016 release, charts at #1 on iTunes.
