A Rhode Island native, DJ Break started spinning in 1992 at the age of 14. As a pioneer in multi-tracked mixtapes, Break was blending and producing complex productions incorporating hundreds of records on a single, 90 minute cassette tape. As the popularity of his mixtapes grew, his fan base expanded outside the Ocean State, and he was recognized and nominated for “Best Skills” in Justo’s Mixtape Awards in New York. Continuing to release mixtapes yearly, by 2001 they were in demand worldwide.
In 2002, Break moved to Hollywood and by chance encounter met platinum producer “XL” from hip hop mogul Master P’s No Limit Records. Break soon began studio sessions with XL, scratching on several records for X, Master P, lil’ Romeo, 504 Boyz and other artists on the New No Limit imprint. DJ Break’s first television appearance was performing on BET’s 106 & Park with Master P, Romeo and the 504 Boyz.

In 2011, Break performed scratches on two songs for Interscope Records’ group Mindless Behavior, including the song “Girls Talkin’ Bout” which became #1 on BET’s Top Ten Live. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top R&B.
